A Communications expert having served as publicist, writer, editor, proofreader, and instructor in 30+ years as practitioner. Experience in communications encompasses a wide range of products and services. Currently represents book, business, and beauty clients, and has represented clients in the music, arts, leisure, restaurant, and sporting industries among others. Most notable client at the moment is author J.D. Barker (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) and his thriller novels “The Fifth to Die,” “The Fourth Monkey,” and “Forsaken.” Works in conjunction with HMH’s Marketing Department to achieve the most expansive coverage possible for Barker.

Previously served as a magazine writer for such international publications as Ocean Drive, and national magazines including Elegant Bride and Fashion Spectrum. Also contributed to newspapers, news magazines, catalogs, trades, and in-house publications. Adjunct professor and lecturer for over 25 years. Taught a variety of writing and communication courses for numerous public and private institutions of higher education – both four year universities and two year colleges, starting out at UCLA, then to Florida Atlantic, and currently Cuyahoga Community and Ursuline Colleges with many other schools in between. Additionally taught executive seminars on communications, writing, and professional skills to business clientele including national, regional, and local companies, governmental agencies, and private individuals.

Szilvas is a two-time graduate of Kent State University, earning a Master of Arts in Journalism, specializing in Public Relations, and a Bachelor of Business Administration, Marketing and Management concentrations. She has also pursued many hours in PhD level courses in Comparative Studies.
